Office of Student Adviser

Under the University’s active efforts to promote the professional development of student affairs and implement mentoring and counseling works, the Office of Student Adviser was established on August 1, 2014 to facilitate students to learn, to achieve holistic development, and to develop their character. Full-time professionals educated to the post graduate level with experience in student affairs, or an expertise in guidance and counseling or education were recruited to serve as dedicated Student Advisers for undergraduate students. Student Advisers are responsible for providing life guidance and counseling on school life, and for dealing with unexpected events. With joint effort and support from Student Counseling Center, Health Center and Special Education Center at NTNU, we work together to ensure the implementation of tertiary guidance and counseling—developmental guidance, intervention counseling, and remedial counseling. The current Office of Student Adviser was founded on the basis of a merger between its predecessor and the previous Military Instructors Office in 2015. Since the new office was launched, the university has been able to provide better care for students in their school life, offer guidance counseling services for both students living on and off campus, and assist students in emergency events. Meanwhile, the Office also organizes career exploration activities and other events to facilitate student development during scheduled student activity and mentoring sessions.

Additionally, to strengthen counseling services for indigenous students, a dedicated Indigenous Student Adviser was appointed at the main campus and Gongguan Campus respectively, and the Resource Center for Indigenous Students was set up.

The Student Advisers  are responsible for the following:

1)         Education on etiquette (including students’ leave requests)

2)         Assistance in adjusting to daily life

3)         Delinquency correction

4)         Emergency support

5)         Guidance and support for accessing financial resources to facilitate students’ studies

6)         Primary prevention for high risk and at risk students

7)         Other student affairs
