Extracurricular activities are a key aspect of university life that can complement the university’s academic curriculum and expose students to a rich array of learning opportunities. Endeavoring to engage students through a multitude of activities, we hope to create an environment that encourages students to study hard and play hard so that they have the opportunities to explore themselves, to proactively connect with people, to learn to think outside the box, to develop their own characters, and to be imbued with the spirit of social service. Participation in extracurricular activities will greatly enrich a student’s university life.
NTNU has a vibrant student community with 7 major categories of student clubs/associations, each with their own distinctive features: academic, art and culture, recreational, athletic, service-oriented, social networking, and comprehensive student organization
Aside from providing guidance for student club events, the Division of Extracurricular Activities also organizes many large-scale extracurricular activities, including a series of club orientations, camps for club leaders, club evaluations, club leader meetings, social services programs during winter/summer breaks, and developing projects for student clubs in middle/primary schools with coaching provided by NTNU student clubs.
In addition, we are the first in the nation to provide the credit-awarding leadership program targeting to train student club leaders. Marrying theory with practice, the program aims to guide students towards the right direction in organization management. As such, students will be better prepared for job hunting and career advancement in the future with a sharper competitive edge. By participating in the classroom and extracurricular activities, students can learn and have fun together, apply their classroom knowledge to the real world, and broaden their horizon beyond the classroom. We believe the so-called “soft power” will be a big boost to students’ employability.
